Prerequisites/Target Audience
CEUs
Physical Therapists: New York State and Illinois have approved Klose Training as a sponsor of continuing education for PTs and PTAs. Colorado PTs/PTAs will earn Category II CEUs. The Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy has approved up to 21.5 hrs for continuing education. California has approved the Conference only for 1.5 CEU/15 contact hours. The Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners has approved the Conference and pre-Conference workshops for up to 2.2 CEUs (22 contact hours.) Klose Training has also submitted applications for CE approval in New Jersey and Pennsylvania (due to the PA Board’s processing timeline, we will not have a determination prior to the Conference. However, any hours approved will be retroactive). Submittal does not guarantee approval. Many states offer reciprocal approvals. Many states also offer an option for individual therapists to apply for approval of CEUs; some require you to apply for approval prior to the event/course. You can find application information for many states here, or you can contact your state board to ask about CEU-approval options. Klose Training is happy to provide any information required for an application.
Massage Therapists: Please check with your state board to ask if there is an option for individual therapists to apply for CEU approval. The Conference will NOT be approved by the NCBTMB due to their restrictions.
Contact Hours
Pre-Conference Workshops: Two workshops will total 7 contact hours
Conference: The Conference will total 15 contact hours, excluding breaks.
NOTE: Every state has their own conversion formula from contact hours to CEUs. Please contact your Board for the proper formula.

The Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1998 to fight lymphatic disease and lymphedema through education, research and advocacy. LE&RN seeks to accelerate the prevention, treatment and cure of the disease while bringing patients and medical professionals together to address the unmet needs surrounding lymphatic disorders. To accomplish these goals, LE&RN sponsors research fellowship grants, a patient registry and tissue bank, bi-monthly live-stream symposiums, the peer-review journal Lymphatic Research & Biology, weekly e-newsletters, scholarship grants to lymphedema therapists, conference travel awards to young researchers, and a vibrant website with features such as Ask the Experts which connect patients with the field’s more renowned practitioners.
The Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) promotes standards for management of individuals with lymphedema and/or related disorders, establishes and maintains certification for healthcare professionals who provide such services, and promotes lymphedema awareness and the science of lymphology. Having recognized the need for a national certification examination for lymphedema therapists, LANA tests for knowledge considered fundamental in the treatment of lymphedema.
The mission of the American Lymphedema Framework Project (ALFP) is to improve the management of lymphedema and related lymphatic disorders in the United States while contributing to global improvement in this field. This will be achieved by defining best practices and developing a minimum data set (MDS) to improve lymphedema outcomes. The ALFP is establishing a leadership role in lymphedema risk reduction, treatment, education, health policy, and research. These outcomes will be achieved through a partnership among all lymphedema stakeholders.
The National Lymphedema Network strives to empower those with lymphedema to live life to their fullest potential, educate and inspire clinicians to provide world-class care, and provide a forum for researchers to share their meaningful discoveries. We are dedicated to making the world a better place by positively influencing our community of patients, families, and medical professionals.
The Lymphedema Treatment Act is a federal bill that will provide for Medicare coverage of compression supplies, including garments, bandages, and other day and nighttime devices. Although this legislation relates specifically to a change in Medicare law, it will set a precedent for Medicaid and private insurers to follow. The Lymphedema Advocacy Group is the driving force behind this legislation. Founded in 2010 by Heather Ferguson, LAG is an all-volunteer organization of patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and industry partners. Your Help Is Needed! This is a grassroots and patient driven cause. Each person’s involvement makes a difference. Smith, MD, FACS, Director of the Friedman Center for Lymphedema Research & Treatment at The Center for Advanced Medicine at Northwell Health , and Catherine Seo, PhD, founder of Lipedema Simplified, LLC, and a lipedema patient, advocate and filmmaker. The Lipedema Project is a comprehensive transmedia program to increase awareness and provide education, research, and treatment for lipedema. With obesity reaching epidemic proportions and anti-fat bias prevalent in healthcare, it is critical that patients are correctly diagnosed and resources are invested in understanding this disease and how it can be treated.
The Lipedema Foundation was formed in August 2015, although we have been helping the lipedema community since 2013. The mission of our Foundation is to invest in research that will define, diagnose, and develop treatments for lipedema.
