Treatment of Head & Neck Lymphedema
This workshop will describe the consequences and complications related to the treatment of head & neck cancer with surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy, and how the therapist can mitigate these effects, especially in regards to lymphedema. Manual lymph drainage (MLD) and compression-garment selection will be discussed.
Objectives
- Explain how the treatment of head & neck cancer can negatively affect the lymphatic system.
- Identify effective treatment options for a lymphatic system negatively impacted by the treatment of head & neck cancer.

About the Presenter
Heidi balances her therapy practice between two specialties, developing hand therapy and lymphedema therapy programs. She has developed a special expertise in treating head and neck oncology patients and has lectured extensively on the subject of Lymphedema of the Head & Neck at conferences for patients, therapists and doctors across the U.S. Heidi is currently works for Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore Maryland.
Heidi is an online instructor for Klose Training, sharing her special interest, skills and experience in working with patients with lymphedema of the head and neck.
