Pre- and Post-Surgical Care
for Patients Receiving Lymphatic Surgery

for Patients Receiving Lymphatic Surgery
Friday, May 3, 4:20pm – 5:20pm
This presentation will explain what parameters are used to determine who is a viable candidate for lymphatic surgery. Topics will include: testing that should be performed, alternate etiologies for edema that should be ruled out, and how a therapist should prepare the patient for surgery with treatment and garment and volume. Garment choice, including most appropriate style and amount of compression, will be discussed, along with the importance of post-operative assessments to assist with garment orders as limb volume changes. Potential complications and their symptoms will also be described.
