Course Description:
This one-day class will teach you how to safely and effectively utilize the techniques of elastic taping on patients with lymphedema. After an introduction to the history and theory of elastic taping, you will learn techniques of elastic taping for patients with lymphedema of the upper and lower extremity and difficult-to-bandage areas such as the trunk, breast, and head & neck.
By engaging with the course, you will:
- acquire an understanding of the principles of elastic taping.
- acquire an understanding of the indications and contraindications for the use of elastic tape on patients with lymphedema.
- learn to safely and effectively apply elastic tape on patients with lymphedema of the head & neck and trunk, including those with breast lymphedema.
- learn to safely and effectively apply elastic tape on patients with lymphedema of an upper extremity with persistent hand swelling.
- learn to safely and effectively apply elastic tape on patients with lymphedema of a lower extremity.
Ruth Coopee, MOT, OTR/L, CHT, MLD/CDT, LMT. Ms. Coopee was one of the first Kinesio® Taping instructors to be certified by the Kinesio® Taping Association. She has been teaching and writing on the topic since 1996 and was awarded “Instructor of the Year 2004.” Ms. Coopee was recognized for research on the use of Kinesio Taping for Lymphedema, and was a guest speaker at the 15th Annual Kinesio Taping International Symposium held in Tokyo Japan.

This course is open to PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, ATCs, RNs, MTs, NPs, Speech Therapists, and MDs who have successfully completed a lymphedema training program of at least 100 continuous hours. Unless you are a graduate of Klose Training & Consulting, a copy of the Certificate of Completion from your initial lymphedema training course/program must be provided.
All classes are held in accessible hotels or medical facilities. In addition, Klose Training is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to individual students who have a disability. Students should call Klose Training directly (303-245-0333) at least three weeks before the start of your class to discuss your needs.
The total tuition for this course is $250.00 (includes course handouts). Full amount is due at registration. $100.00 is non-refundable; no refunds will be given in case of cancellation less than 3 weeks before class.
