Objectives
Schedule
Interactive Workshops
1. The Power of MLD: Guenter Klose, CLT-LANA, and Linda Roherty, CLT-LANA, will exemplify the power of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD). There is no universal agreement about the most effective technique of MLD, however if applied with intent and purpose, and by incorporating the latest ICG research findings, MLD is a powerful tool in the decongestion for patients with lymphedema.
2. The Power of Movement: Joshua Trock, PT, DPT, CLT-LANA, will guide you through basic movement assessment and exercise testing to help you develop a quality exercise program that will deliver results for your lymphedema patients.
3. Treatment of Lymphedema in the Pediatric Patient: Lauren Brown, MSOT, OTR/L, CLT-LANA, will share her vast experience and special considerations when treating small children with primary lymphedema and lymphatic dysplasia. This interactive workshop will prepare any CLT to treat this special patient population, even if you are not specifically trained in the treatment of pediatrics.
4. Practical Wound Management for Lymphedema Therapists: Joy Macheel, PT, DPT, CLT-CWS, and Jan Weiss, PT, DPT, CLT,will provide up-to-date, practical and cost-effective strategies to help non-wound specialists manage wounds in patients with lymphedema and chronic venous insufficiency. They also will share their extensive experience in treating wounds in patients with lower extremity multifactorial edema and lymphedema. The workshop will offer a “basic recipe” for wound management, covering wound cleansing, debridement approaches and selecting appropriate dressings to maintain a moisture-balanced environment, which can then be adapted to each patient’s unique needs.
