Guenter KloseGuenter Klose, MLD/CDT Certified Instructor, is the Founder of Klose Training & Consulting, LLC located in Lafayette, Colorado. Guenter received his initial Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) and Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) training at the Foeldi Clinic in Hinterzarten, Germany in 1984. Specializing in the treatment of lymphedema, he became certified in 1987 as an instructor for MLD/CDT by the German Massage Therapy and Physical Therapy Association and continued working as instructor at the Foeldi Schools in Freiburg and Munich, Germany.

In 1990, Guenter came to the United States to assist Dr. Robert Lerner in establishing the first CDT treatment center for lymphedema patients located in New York City. Guenter’s work was instrumental in establishing the field of lymphedema therapy and training in the U.S. He assisted in opening numerous lymphedema treatment centers on the East Coast and has facilitated the training of many lymphedema therapists from across the country.
 
In 2003, Guenter established his own lymphedema training and consulting company, an organization dedicated to providing the highest quality lymphedema therapy training available.
 
Guenter has lectured extensively in the United States, Europe, and South America. His activities include presentations at the National Lymphedema Network Conferences, lecturing at physicians' meetings in a large number of hospitals, as well as numerous lymphedema support groups across the country. He is the Program Director of the biannual Klose Training & Consulting Lymphedema Conference. Here in the U.S., Guenter actively treats lymphedema patients and teaches classes for MLD/CDT several times a year.

Guenter was a founding member of the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) and served on the LANA Board of Directors from 1999 – 2004.

Kathleen Frances

Kathleen Francis, MD, is the Medical Director and a Course Instructor of Klose Training & Consulting, LLC in Lafayette, Colorado, as well as Clinical Director, Lymphedema Treatment Center at the St. Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, Livingston, NJ. She graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Medical School, Newark, NJ in 1989.

Her past clinical positions include Director of Outreach Services, Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, 1996-2004; Clinical Director, Kessler-Lerner Lymphedema Services 1997-2004; Clinical Director, ALS Clinic Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation 1994-2004.

Dr. Francis draws from many years of experience treating patients with lymphedema. Among numerous awards and honors, she was selected for “Best Doctors in New York,” New York Magazine, 2001, 2002, & 2003.
 
Dr. Francis lectured extensively in numerous clinical and academic settings such as Kessler Rehabilitation Institute, W. Orange, NJ; Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ; UMDNJ Medical School, Newark, NJ; and the International National Lymphedema Network Conferences.

Linda S. Roherty

Linda S. Roherty, PT, CLT-LANA, is a 1989 graduate of Northwestern University. Prior to this she was a PTA for five years.

Linda took her initial lymphedema therapy training in 1998. Since then she has amassed additional hours of specialty training in the field of lymphedema therapy focusing on patient treatment and the education of the medical community. In 2008 Linda joined Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Bob and Edna Meadows Cancer Center to develop thier cancer rehabilitation program with an emphasis in lymphedema. From 2000 until 2003 Linda taught at Klose Norton Training & Consulting, LLC as an Associate Instructor for their Lymphedema Therapy Certification Courses and from 2005 to present is a Klose Training Associate Instructor, nationally and internationally. Linda earned her CLT-LANA credentials in May 2001. She was elected to the Lymphology Association of North America's Board of Directors in 2000 and acted as Vice President of LANA from 2002-2005.

Linda has lectured extensively, nationally and internationally on lymphedema and cancer. She is an important resource for information on setting up lymphedema programs and help with difficult-to-treat patients for many therapists. Her professional organizations include:

Jodi Winicour, PT, CMT, CLT-LANA, is an instructor with Klose Training & Consulting, LLC. She graduated from Indiana University’s physical therapy program in 1993 and received her massage therapy certification in 1997 from Michigan’s Health Enrichment Center. Initially practicing general orthopedic physical therapy at Community Hospital East’s Outpatient Physical Therapy Department in Indianapolis, Indiana, she began specializing in the treatment of cancer patients in 1998 and lectured for the Physical Therapy Department of Indiana University. Jodi was certified as an MLD/CDT Therapist by Klose Norton Training & Consulting in 1998. She received her CLT-LANA Certification in October, 2001.

During the years 2000 through 2007 Jodi joined Cedars Sinai Medical Center to develop and expand the oncology and lymphedema program in Los Angeles. Since 2007 she has treated patients with Lymphedema, Cancer-related dysfunction, and orthopedic issues at Longmont United Hospital in Longmont, Colorado. In addition to her teaching, she is a full-time clinician.
 
Since the year 2000, Jodi has served as a class instructor for Klose Training & Consulting’s Lymphedema Therapy Certification course. She is the author and instructor for one of Klose Training's most successful continuing education courses, "Breast Cancer Rehabilitation." Jodi has taught and spoken at courses and conferences across the United States and in Europe regarding Lymphedema and breast cancer rehabilitation.
Jan Weiss

Jan Weiss, MHS, PT, CLT-LANA received her Bachelors and Master of Health Science degrees in physical therapy from Indiana University and the University of Indianapolis in 1977 and 1996 respectively.  She has lived and worked as a physical therapist at numerous locations in the United States and Germany. 

Jan moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1994 to continue her career in physical therapy in Outpatient Rehabilitation at Cox Health.  After receiving her certification in the treatment of Lymphedema management in 1996, she established a Lymphedema Clinic at Cox.  She is supervisor of the Clinic and actively treats patients with lymphedema.  Jan serves as a Lymphedema resource therapist for colleagues across Missouri.  Her interests include clinical research and she has presented studies at national and international Lymphedema conferences.  She also lectures at local university Physical Therapy programs on the subject of Lymphedema management. 

Jan currently instructs various Klose Training Courses, several times a year.  She received her CLT-LANA certification in October 2001.  Since 2003 Jan serves on the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA) Board of Directors.

Julia Rodrick, OTR/L, WCC, CLT-LANA
MLD/CDT & EME Instructor
Julia RodickJulia Rodrick has practiced in the field of Occupational Therapy since 1980. Her experience includes out-patient orthopedics/ hands, the treatment for Lymphedema and wound care. She is employed by Rezin Orthopedic of Morris, IL.where she is manager of the Outpatient Orthopedic/Hand center and is recognized as a Master Clinician in the area of Lymphedema and Wound Care specialties. Mrs. Rodrick is a national mentor and lecturer for the management of lymphedema and sub-acute edema management. She is co-owner of EDEMA THERAPY ESSENTIALS, a privately owned seminar company providing accredited courses in the treatment of problematic edema conditions.
 
Julia has received advanced training of MLD/CDT through Foeldi Clinic and College in Hinterzarten, Germany and teaches the principles of Manual Lymph Drainage and Complete Decongestive Therapies internationally. She has collaborated to modify it’s principles for the treatment of sub-acute and chronic edema for the upper and lower extremity and to facilitate wound healing. Julia is recognized as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist by the Lymphology Assoc. of North America and services on its Board of Directors. She is also a Certified Wound Care Specialist, credentialed by the National Alliance of Wound Care.
 
She is an active member of the International Society of Lymphology. She is the author of Treatment and Theory for Reducing Edema an accredited internet hand course, online since May of 2003; also An Alternative Approach in the Treatment of Sub-acute and Chronic Edemas, Selected Papers, Spring/Summer edition, 2003 She has also co-authored “Manual Edema Mobilization: A New Concept in Sub-acute Edema Resolution” published in May 2002, by The Israeli Journal of Occupational Therapy. 
 
As a researcher, she has completed the first pilot study of Manual Edema Mobilization vs. Retrograde Massage for the treatment of sub-acute hand edema presenting its findings at the 6th annual Congress of the International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy, Edinburgh, Scotland, and June 2004. She was the Malaysian Oncological Society’s keynote speaker at the annual Cancer and Lymphedema funding dinner, sponsored by Yayasan Al-Bukari; Hospital Putrajaya and the Malaysian Oncological Society, Putrajaya, Malaysia; January, 2007.

Joanne McGillicuddy
Joanne McGillicuddy, PT, CLT-LANA graduated from The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore’s physical therapy program in 1989 and received her Master’s Degree in Adulthood and Aging with an emphasis on Health Care Administration from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1999. She earned her initial lymphedema certification with the Vodder School of North America in 1995 and has been working with patients with lymphedema since that time. Joanne was instrumental in establishing the Mid-Atlantic Lymphedema Center in Maryland. The program grew to nine individual centers throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey with Joanne as the Regional Program Director.

Joanne has presented on lymphedema management at many National Lymphedema Network Conferences (1998, 2000, 2002, and 2004), the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Conferences (2001, 2005), the North American Vodder Association of Lymphedema Therapist (NAVALT) conference (2001) and the American Society of Lymphology conference (2001) as well as numerous support group presentations. Joanne served on National Lymphedema Network conference planning committee for the 2000, 2002 and 2004 conferences. In 2001, Joanne became certified by the Lymphology Association of North America. In 2004, Joanne established McGillicuddy Physical Therapy, LLC, her own private practice specializing in the treatment of patients with lymphatic disorders.
 
In 2003, Joanne joined the faculty of Klose Training where she teaches the Lymphedema Therapy Certification Course several times a year.
Chris Cobb, PT, CLT-LANA
MLD/CDT Instructor
Chris CobbChris Cobb, PT, CLT-LANA received his Bachelors of Science in Biology and Bachelors of Health Science in Physical Therapy from Drury University and University of Missouri in 1993 and 1995 respectively.  He has been an instructor for Klose Training and Consulting since 2007. He co-authored a poster presentation for the National NLN Conference in 2007 highlighting the benefits of a comprehensive lymphedema department within large healthcare organizations.

Chris works as a staff therapist in the outpatient physical therapy department for CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri.  His time is shared between the Lymphedema Department and Orthopaedics/Sports Medicine.  He has been actively treating lymphedema patients in a variety of settings including acute care, skilled nursing, and outpatient since his certification in October 2002.  Chris received his CLT-LANA certification in April 2005.  He enjoys the challenges of treating patients with lymphedema as well as utilizing his knowledge and skill when appropriate with his orthopaedic population.

Heidi Miranda-Walsh, OTR/L, CHT, CLT-LANA

Heidi Miranda-WalshHeidi Miranda-Walsh, OTR/L, CHT, CLT-LANA is a graduate of Towson University in Maryland with over 20 years of experience as an occupational therapist. She acquired her hand therapy specialty certification in 1991 and was trained as a lymphedema therapist at the former Lerner Lymphedema Services Academy of Lymphatic Studies in 1997.

Heidi balances her therapy practice between two specialties developing hand therapy and lymphedema therapy programs. She has developed a special expertise in treating head and neck oncology patients. Heidi has lectured extensively on the subject of Lymphedema of the Head & Neck at conferences for patients, therapists and doctors across the U.S.

Because of her special interest, skills and experience in working with patients with lymphedema of the head and neck, Heidi serves as an instructor with Klose Training & Consulting.
Elizabeth Camp, PT, MHS, CWS, CLT-LANA

Elizabeth Camp, PT-MHS, CWS, CLT-LANA received her BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Illinois in 1985. She completed a postgraduate Masters of Health Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Indianapolis focusing in orthopedics. She is a certified wound specialist and lymphedema therapist. She is currently on the staff of Carle Foundation Hospital in the Urbana, IL providing lymphedema intervention and adjunctive therapies to patients with chronic wounds and/or lymphedema.

For the past 23 years, she has provided therapy in a variety of settings and treated a wide variety of patient types across the age spectrum. She now specializes in the treatment of patients with lymphedema with non-healing edematous wounds. In addition, she has been a member of the Pediatric Rheumatology Clinic team at Carle Clinic for 15 years.

Elizabeth is co-author of Manual Edema Mobilization - An Adjunctive Treatment for Edema Associated with Venous Insufficiency, submitted to the Physical Therapy Journal for publication. She lectured on Therapeutic Lymphatic Drainage Techniques for Venous Leg Wounds at the Wound Congress, in 2002, and presented at the Skin Care Symposium in 2006.
 
She is an instructor for the Wound Care for Lymphedema Course with Klose Training, teaching practicing lymphedema therapists how to effectively address wounds associated with lymphedema.
René Janiece, LMT, NCTMB, CLT

Rene Janiece
Rene’ Janiece, LMT, NCTMB, CLT, brings twenty years of experience in the field of massage and bodywork to her classroom instruction. She is a graduate of The Scherer Institute of Natural Healing in Santa Fe, New Mexico and has an extensive background in both comfort-oriented and therapeutic modalities.

In her private and clinically based practices she has focused her work on specific-injury massage and palliative care. Since 2002, she has specialized in oncology massage, studying with two leading instructors: Gayle MacDonald, MS, LMT and Sandy Canzone, DOM. Through Klose Training & Consulting, she received her initial Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) Certification in 2003 and her Lymphedema Therapy Certification in 2005.

In addition to its use as a component of Complete Decongestive Therapy, Rene’ successfully integrated the multi-faceted applications for MLD in her busy clinical practice in Santa Fe, NM. Here, MLD was utilized to treat post-surgical and post-traumatic injury patients, as well as individuals presenting with symptoms from fibromyalgia, fibro-cystic breast disease, CRPS, and various other diagnoses.
 
Community outreach and education has been an important priority throughout Rene’s career. She has been a presenter at massage schools, cancer centers, and outreach events focusing on cancer, AIDS, caregiver support and hospice care. Many of these events involved the coordination and supervision of other bodywork therapists in group treatment settings. Since 1997, she has provided instruction in both one-on-one and classroom formats. Rene’ has been an assistant instructor for Klose Training’s MLD and Lymphedema Therapy Courses since 2004, and has recently become an MLD Instructor on the Klose Training faculty.

She is on staff at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder, Colorado, where she works as an Oncology Massage Specialist and a member of their Lymphedema Therapy team.

Ruth Coopee, OTR, CHT

Ruth Coopee
Ms. Coopee received her Masters in Occupational Therapy in 1983 from Texas Woman's University. Since graduation she has worked with patients across the lifespan from children in the school system to long-term care geriatrics. In a variety of settings from acute care hospital burn, neuro and orthopedic units, subacute rehab to skilled nursing facilities and HMO clinics. Specializing in Hand Therapy she developed a number of outpatient Hand Therapy programs and achieved Hand Therapy Certification in 1991.
 
She has lectured on a national, international, local and college level addressing various topics involving regabilitation of the Hand/Upper Extremity and Lymphedema. Ruth served as an adjunct professor at Worcester State College she developed a "Hand Therapy" course for both undergraduates & postgraduates and later as an associate professor in the OTA program at Greenfield Community College both in Massachusetts.

Her special interest lies in the biomechanics of posture and its relationship to fascial and structural dysfunction. Since 1989 she has been studying and incorporating "Indirect" Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy, Feldendrais, Strain/Counterstrain, Craniosacral Techniques, Zero Balancing into her treatment. Her focus on fascia and the "whole body approach" led to Certification in Dr. Vodder's Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Degongestive Therapy in 1997.
 
Ruth has been using Kinesio Taping since its arrival to the USA from Japan in 1995 and teaching on the topic since 1996. She is a Ceritied Kinesio Taping Instructor and serves as the Occupational Therapy consultant to the Kinesio Taping Association. She awarded "Instructor of the Year 2004" at the first Kinesio Taping Conference held in the USA. Recognized for research on the use of Kinesio Taping for Lymphedema and was a guest speader at the 15th Annual Kinesio Taping International Symposium held in Tokyo Japan, November 1999.

Lisa KonruffLisa Konruff has served as the Operations Manager for Klose Training since 2007. Along with managing the logistics of scheduling, marketing, and supporting all of the courses, she agrees that the best part of her job is communicating with therapists new to lymphedema, our graduates, and our faculty. Lisa accompanied Guenter Klose to the Foeldi Clinic in 2009 to meet Profs. Michael and Ethel Foeldi, and sit in on lectures in our Advanced & Review class given by Foeldi Clinic physicians and senior therapists. When she’s not at the Klose Training office, she’s volunteering for the American Camp Association and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure – Denver, hosting a party or out on a hike in the mountains with her 3 dogs!

Maryanne HenckenMaryanne Hencken joined Klose Training and Lymphedema Care in January of 2010.  Maryanne has a Master’s Degree in Business and previously held positions in Customer Service Management in industries ranging from animal agriculture to health and wellness services.  She is happy to be in a position that allows her to work closely with people.  Maryanne especially enjoys the contact with patients of Klose Lymphedema Care and students of Klose Training and Consulting.  In her spare time she enjoys working as a Tax Advisor and learning all about income taxes – go figure!

Meggin O'MorrowMeggin O’Morrow is Klose Training & Lymphedema Care’s newest staff member taking on the role of Public Relations Specialist, April 2010. With great interest in Internet anthropology, Meggin is passionate about how social media and online communication shape relationships and she looks forward to creating an open, accessible, and informational atmosphere for Klose Training students and Lymphedema patients alike. When she steps away from her computer, which is attached to her hip, you can find her supporting her local community food bank, volunteering for HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, or at the Great Bark Dog Park throwing tennis balls with her chocolate lab.
 
 
 
Petra E. Schalk, OTR/L, CLT, LAc

Petra E. SchalkJoining Klose Lymphedema Care as our in-house therapist, Petra Schalk has been a health care professional for over a decade. She started her medical career as an occupational therapist (OT), graduating in Germany in 1997. Her main focus was pediatrics and neurological diseases such as post-stroke patients. In 2000, Petra moved to Los Angeles, CA, and acquired her US certification with the National Board of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

She worked in multiple acute-care hospitals, skilled nursing homes, and rehabilitation facilities throughout the wider Los Angeles area. As an employee of UCLA from 2003 to 2009, she treated oncology and post-transplant patients as well as patients with post-trauma neurological disorders. Since 2009, she has continued her career at the University Hospital of Colorado in Denver (UCH).
